Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown Heights seems to be losing many of its big name stores. Charlotte Russe is closing its doors after filing for Bankruptcy.
Charlotte Russe was the hit store for many. Having an office party, an event or even the club with your girls. Run to Charlotte Russe, you’d find an entire wardrobe in that store. The shoes, the outfit, pocketbook, and undies too. But all that will soon be a thing of the past.
This past Monday, February 3, 2019, in the Delaware State, Charlotte Russe Holdings Corp., which operates Charlotte Russe, a fashion brand for young ladies, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. As part of its bankruptcy proceedings, the company announced this week it will shut 94 locations including the stores at Rockland Plaza on Route 59 in Nanuet and the Jefferson Valley Mall at 650 Lee Blvd. in Yorktown Heights.
Now for the good news, the Charlotte Russe stores at the Palisades Center in West Nyack NY and the Galleria mall in White Plains NY were not included on the closing list. Therefore for all the Charlotte Russe lovers, you can still head on over to one of those two locations to get your outfits.
In a press release, the company states, “detailed plans for locations that are closing will become available in the near future.” In the meanwhile, Charlotte Russe stores and its affiliated children’s clothing brand Peek stores, along with their online platforms, will continue to serve their customers, the company said also in the company press release.
If a buyer isn’t found by February 17, 2019, Charlotte Russe will completely liquidate its assets. The way the economy is going it’s hard to keep many stores open. Major chains are closing its doors due to many turning to online shopping and boutiques.
We wish them well and hope they emerge with a new owner and with the help of the $50 million dollars it secured from lenders so they can continue run Charlotte Russe and Peek Children’s stores, as well as its website, during the bankruptcy.
